Eggspectation? Really? Really! It’s probably one of the only times you will see me write about a food chain, especially one that I have been avoiding for a few years now. Everytime I have been dragged there in the past, it was a disaster equally in service and food. Which is why I had to say yes when I was invited to try the all new menu a few weeks ago. I planned a family brunch at the Complexe Desjardins Eggspectation which happened to be on a busy day: St Patrick’s. It took a while to get greeted at the entrance and it was a bit awkward to wait in the frisky entrance of the mall but it all got better when we were seated on the sunny second floor.

While reviewing the new menu, we all ordered one of their smoothies. I was happy to see that they had options without yogourt which is definitely not necessary in a smoothie and most of the time obligatory. The drinks were very fresh and the sizes more than generous. I also tried their regular coffee which was pretty good considering I drink it black!

One of the biggest highlights of the new menu is the addition of Nova Scotia lobster in many of their plates.

I decided to try the Lobster Eggs Benedict and I wasn’t deceived! It’s not my first time ordering this dish in Montreal restaurants but it’s the first time I enjoyed it. You can even order the lobster meat as a side dish so it is clear that Eggspectation is proud of its product quality.

The side potatoes were also very good and for once, very light! It’s definitely an item I try to stay away from to not feel too heavy after brunch but they were quite addictive!

We weren’t sure how much fruit each plate would have and we wanted a little extra for my nephew so we also ordered the fruit platter to share. The array and quantity of fruit we received was very surprising and we had so much that we had to get a doggie bag for home smoothies!

Needless to say, I enjoyed my visit at Eggspectation especially for a family brunch which can get complicated in the trendy little restaurants.

Our waiter took care of us as soon as we arrived and we never seemed to wait for anything, even if we had many requests to accomodate my little nephew. I will definitely keep this chain in mind for bigger brunches in the future.

Check out the new menu yourself on their website.
