The first time I visited Le Cartet was when I used to work just a few minutes away and it was very well known by all the companies around for their great but a tad expensive take out counter.
Even though they’ve always had a gorgeous dinning room, I’d just take my fancy sandwich or yummy meal-sized salad and go eat by the water.
It’s only years later when I started missing the place, now that I don’t work around anymore, that I started hearing their weekend brunch. Once again, not the cheapest brunch, but one of my favorites in town.
Le Cartet offers a full-on brunch menu that will keep you satisfied until dinner time, including a lovely mimosa to start the day if you’re feeling a bit hungover!
Since my first week-end visit, I’ve always gone back for the same plate which is what I like to call a salmon orgy for breakfast!
The plate includes a salmon patty, scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, a smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel with capers, a green salad and fruits.
I like each and every part of it except that I always find it hard to finish.
Conclusion: Definitely a place to try! I would also recommend the Cartet plate for a mix of sweet and salty treats. A nice bowl of Illy café au lait to complete the meal just makes you ready to start your day and enjoy a nice walk on the canal afterwards.
